Meeting 7: November 17, 2006

We briefly discussed the usage of the blog page, and how it was being utilized throughout the group. We also talked about how our respective research was going, and what we have found on the microfilms. The meeting was shortly adjourned.

Personal Research at the Library 12:30 - 2:30

• Researched the Indiana Gazette's article pertaining to the history of IUP campus buildings - " Named in Their Memory--- Buildings Honor Contributors to Indiana Growth" (“Indiana Gazette” August 8, 1966)
• Searched "Keith Hall" on the librarys website, and viewsd several progressive images of Keith taken in the years 1950 + 1955
• Viewed Susan Drummonds master theses, Indiana State Teachers College : a World War II diary, 1942-1945, but nothing was found pertaining to the construction of keith hall, or the usage of said hall.
• Researched IUP's former presidents, and found that John A Keith was president from 1917-1927 and was IUP's ninth president. Keith, president of the Normal School oversaw the evolution of the institution to collegiate status, from improvement in course content to the hiring of professors with earned doctorates. On January 17, 1927, Keith left the Indiana State Normal School to serve as state superintendent of public instruction.
• Viewed Microfilm pertaining to the years 1933-1945
• Saw several images and short biographies on the film that would further help expand the information I had on Keith Hall.
• Viewed yearbooks searching for pictures and more information which involved John A. Keith, or the general construction and usuage.
